I describe Emory as being very “costal” because it feels like everybody is from either the east or west coast. Growing up in a small town called Okemos, where going downtown means walking around the capital city of Lansing. Summer nights consist of bonfires instead of a night out on the town in New York City. Instead of a fancy restaurant district a vast majority of our restaurants are chains with locally owned restaurants few and far between. Driving around town it’s not uncommon at all to see three or four people you know. While it’s nice to have that sense of community, it’s sometimes annoying because you can’t really escape it unless you leave town.
