Michigan
College sports are sacred around Ann Arbor and East Lansing and among graduates of both Universities. No love is lost between the two schools located less than an hour apart. The only middle ground is rooting for the Red Wings or Tigers in addition to complaining about how bad the Lions are. |
Ohio
O-H-I-O, You can’t talk about sports in Ohio without first bringing up Ohio State football. Life evolves around Ohio State football throughout the entire state, while the professional fan base is split between Cleveland and Cincinnati. The easiest way to get sympathy outside of the state of Ohio: just say you’re a Cleveland professional sports fan. |
Wisconsin
With all due respect Bo Ryan and all the success he has had with Wisconsin’s basketball program, the State of Wisconsin is all about football. Wisconsin University’s football team has a storied history, but when you thing about football in Wisconsin you think about the FROZEN TUNDRA OF LAMBEAU FIELD. Packers football is religion for people throughout the state who bear sub freezing temperatures to watch their home games. |
Illinois:
Although Illinois University has had some good basketball and football teams in the past. Professional sports rain supreme in Illinois. The Bulls, Blackhawks, and Bears are three very successful franchises that are beloved throughout the state. Unfortunately you can’t say the same about the two baseball teams. The Cubs have not won a title in over a hundred years and the White Sox are considered the city’s second team. |
Indiana
Basketball. Basketball. Basketball. Home of the movie Hosiers and two of the most famous basketball venues in America: Assembly Hall and Hinkle Fieldhouse. Basketball is life in Indiana at all levels. The love of Notre Dame football also has to be mentioned, RUDY RUDY RUDY. |
